On LG commercial displays the player is installed on the display itself; no extra box is needed. You install it once, and the display starts Viswoo every time it turns on. Downloaded content keeps playing even if the internet drops.
What you need
- An LG commercial display with webOS 3.0 or later. It is compatible if Settings → EZ Setting has SI Server Setting.
- The display’s remote control
- Internet (cable recommended; Wi-Fi also works)
- A Viswoo account (a user who can sign in to the panel)
- For USB setup: a FAT32-formatted USB drive
Apps cannot be installed permanently on LG home TVs (webOS TV). For a home TV we recommend an Android TV box.
Menu names may differ slightly between software versions.
First: the display’s clock
If the clock is wrong, the display cannot make a secure connection (“Loading failed (-202)”).
- Open Settings → General → Time & Date.
- Turn on Set Automatically. If there is no such option, enter the date and time manually and set the time zone to Istanbul (GMT+3).
Quick setup: from an address (recommended)
- Press Settings on the remote and open EZ Setting.
- Open SI Server Setting.
- Application Launch Mode: choose Local.
- Fully Qualified Domain Name: turn On and enter: https://player.viswoo.com/lg/com.lg.app.signage.ipk
- Application Type: choose IPK.
- Local Application Upgrade: choose REMOTE.
- Save, then turn the display off and on. It downloads and installs the package, and Viswoo opens.
USB setup
- On a computer, download https://player.viswoo.com/lg/com.lg.app.signage.ipk.
- Create a folder named application at the root of a FAT32 USB drive and copy the file into it.
- Plug the drive into the display.
- In SI Server Setting: Application Launch Mode Local, Fully Qualified Domain Name Off, Application Type IPK, Local Application Upgrade USB.
- Save, then turn the display off and on. You can remove the drive when installation finishes.
Starting automatically
As long as Application Launch Mode is Local, the display starts Viswoo every time it turns on. No other setting is needed.
To keep the display from turning itself off, disable energy saving and auto power-off under Settings → General.
Portrait setup
On webOS 3.x displays, the menu’s portrait option (OSD Portrait Mode) rotates only the menus, not videos. On these displays:
- Leave OSD Portrait Mode Off; keep the display in landscape.
- In the panel, set the screen’s orientation to Portrait and rotation to 90° under Settings. If the picture is upside down, choose 270°.
On webOS 4 and later, Settings → Picture → Rotation rotates videos too.
Pairing
- When Viswoo opens, a 6-digit code and a QR code appear on the display.
- In the panel, go to Screens → Add screen and enter the code, or scan the QR code with your phone.
- The code renews every few minutes; enter the current one.
Check
If the screen shows green in the panel and your content is playing, setup is complete.
Updates
The player updates itself from the server; most updates need nothing from you. When the package itself changes, a display installed from the address only needs to be turned off and on. If you installed from USB, repeat the steps with the new file. Pairing and content are kept.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “Loading failed (-202)” | The display’s clock is wrong | Set the clock to automatic or correct it, then turn the display off and on. |
| Clock is right, still “-202” | The display’s software does not recognise the certificate | Write to us with the display’s model name. |
| No code on screen | No internet | Check the cable or Wi-Fi; the player retries by itself. |
| Video sideways in portrait | On webOS 3.x OSD Portrait does not rotate video | Follow the “Portrait setup” steps above. |
| Display turns off after a while | Energy saving is on | Turn off energy saving and auto power-off. |
Known limitations
- Remote restart, screenshots, brightness and on/off schedules are not available on these displays yet.
- Playback volume can be set; the display’s own volume cannot.
- The remote’s Back key is disabled on purpose, so staff cannot leave the player by accident.
